Firefighters continue to battle a two-alarm blaze at a commercial building in Mississauga.
Crews were called to the scene around 2 a.m. Monday at a building located on Wharton Way.
Mississauga fire officials say there was a report of an explosion prior to the arrival of firefighters.
Crews initially entered the building but were forced out due to the conditions inside.
“We had some crews in but the conditions deteriorated. We had to pull them out,” Acting Platoon Chief Dan Green said.
“Right now, we’re at a defensive exterior operation. So we’re applying water from the outside to put out the fire.”
Green said eight trucks and 32 firefighters were dispatched. Crews managed to get the blaze under control around 6 a.m.
The cause of the fire is unknown but no injuries were reported. The Ontario Fire Marshal’s office has been called in for the investigation.
The area remains closed to traffic as crews deal with hot spots.
