WINNIPEG — Angels have touched down in Winnipeg again this year, and for a good cause.

The Angel Squad is back in action for the 21st year. The group is raising money for the Misericordia Health Centre Foundation.

The funds goes towards specialized programs, buying new equipment and enhancing the hospital’s facilities.

Drivers will be able to see the squad – decked out in halos and wings – on the Maryland Bridge Thursday morning. You can also pull into Misericordia’s own “drive-through” between 7:30 a.m. and 9 a.m. where the angels will take donations, and in return you get a hot chocolate or coffee.

The Angel Squad will be stationed at 201 Portage Avenue Friday morning as well.

Last year, the group shattered a Guinness World Record for the largest gathering of angels.

The goal was for more than 1,200 angels to participate –  as the record was 1,039 angels held in Germany.

That number was reached, with 1,275 angels gathering in a public area.
