The 2016-17 NHL season may be at the quarter-way mark, but plans are already set for the league’s next visit to Saskatoon in 2017.
Connor McDavid and the Edmonton Oilers will take on Saskatoon native Cam Ward and the Carolina Hurricanes in an exhibition contest at SaskTel centre next fall.

The Oilers are returning to Saskatoon after taking on the Minnesota Wild during the 2015 pre-season.
Carolina will be playing at SaskTel centre for the first time.
Organizers said fans should see real rosters at the game.
“My belief is although this is classified as a pre-season, you have the real rosters, and as we saw two years ago, Edmonton got a new coach that happened to be from here and he had his best lineup, and I don’t expect anything different,” On Ice Management president John Graham said.
The event also features a game day luncheon in support of the Red Cross, and an early-bird tournament for local peewee hockey teams.
Saskatoon Blades season ticket holders have the first crack at tickets before going on sale to the general public on Monday, Dec. 5.
The game takes place on Sept. 27, 2017.
