Elderly man and woman hit in Spruce Grove intersection

An elderly man and woman were rushed to hospital after being hit by a car in Spruce Grove Monday evening.

It happened around 7:30 p.m. at the intersection of Brookwood Drive and King Street, which is controlled by lights.

The two pedestrians were crossing the street when they were hit by a vehicle.

The 75-year-old man suffered serious, but non-life threatening injuries. The second pedestrian, a 73-year-old woman, suffered minor injuries. Both are from Spruce Grove and were taken by EMS to hospital.

The driver of the car, a 22-year-old man from Spruce Grove, was not hurt. He was the only person in the car.

It’s not known who had the right-of-way at the time of the crash. RCMP said they continue to investigate. There’s no word on any charges.

Spruce Grove is about 20 kilometres west of Edmonton in Parkland County.
