Nearly two hundred baby ducks found along the side of the road in Aldergrove are in need of new homes.
Sarah Bolton was driving to work on the morning of Nov. 11 when she saw what looked like two moving garbage bags on the shoulder of the road near 8th Avenue and 272nd Street. She pulled over and on closer inspection, realized she was looking at two crates full of baby ducks.
Bolton took the ducklings to work and reached out to BC SPCA, which is now looking for new homes for them.
It is not clear how the baby ducks ended up on the side of the road, but it is possible they may have fallen off a truck or been abandoned.
Julie Delisle, a farmer in Aldergrove, is providing temporary foster care for the 194 ducklings at her farm.
Bolton and Delisle have so far been unable to find the owner of the ducklings and no one came forward to claim them.
Delisle estimates the ducklings are around two weeks old now.
“It is so nice to see they are being taken care of and are warm,” says Bolton. “Hopefully we can find them homes and give them a second chance at life.”
Anyone looking to adopt the ducklings is asked to call the BC SPCA.
