Police investigate 2 smash and grabs at Calgary businesses

Calgary police are investigating two smash and grab thefts that happened less than an hour apart on Thursday.

The first incident was at a business in the 6800 block 30 Street S.E. at around 1 a.m. Police said an older-model pickup truck was used to smash through the building’s loading doors.

The second incident happened just before 2 a.m. at a business in the 2800 block of 19 Street N.E. Police said a vehicle was also used to smash through the business’ doors.

It’s not known what was taken from either of the businesses, or if the two incidents are related.

Police are in the process of reviewing CCTV footage.
