The Saskatoon Blades have traded the rights to their first-round pick in the 2015 WHL Bantam Draft to the Calgary Hitmen.
Jonathan Tychonick was picked 12th overall by the Blades, the first time the team had a pick in the first round since 2010.

Instead of signing with the Blades, Tychonick opted to play in the NCAA and is committed to the University of North Dakota for the 2018-19 season.

Tychonick, a defenceman, is currently playing for the Pentiction Vees in the BCHL, where he has seven points in 14 games.
In exchange for Tychonick, the Blades receive a 2017 third-round pick and a conditional first-round pick.
“At this time getting a guaranteed third-round pick for Jonathan was in the best interest of our club,” Blades general manager Colin Priestner said.
“If he signs with them at any juncture we will also get a first round pick back and that would be the best case scenario for all parties involved – he and his family, the Hitmen, the Blades and the WHL.”
