A 25-year-old man is facing animal cruelty charges after he allegedly threw a two-year-old Beagle off a seventh-floor apartment balcony in Toronto on Monday.
Toronto police said they responded to the scene around noon at a building on Firvalley Court, near Warden Avenue and St. Clair Avenue just after noon.
Police said the dog was located by witnesses alive but with serious injuries. He died after officers arrived on scene.

A neighbour who spoke to Global News under the condition of anonymity said her son was “furious” as he watched the man allegedly throw the dog from the balcony.
“We were just crying and devastated, like the wickedness and evilness,” she said. “But he’s just sitting there, ‘Oh yeah, I did it. So?’ Like he had no remorse. He didn’t care.”
She added that onlookers began screaming as the dog fell and she attempted to tend to it as it was lying on the ground severely injured.
“I went over to the dog and then I’m like devastated because there’s nothing I can do,” she said, adding that she and her son then called police who arrested the suspect.
“The saddest part was when I looked at this poor dog and you could just clearly see the agony.”
She said the dog was suffering from internal injuries and let out “one yelp” as it lay dying on the ground.
“And then when I went there and I just said, ‘OK sweet girl,’ and then she closed her eyes and that was the end, she wasn’t breathing anymore,” she said.
Adrian Foster has been charged with kill/maim/wounding dog and willfully causing unnecessary suffering to an animal.
He was scheduled to appear in court on Tuesday.
