The family of a young girl killed after a van crashed into her school, are remembering her as a loving, caring young girl.

Megan Wolitski died from injuries she suffered after a van tore through her grade 6 classroom in the town of St. Paul on Thursday morning.

Wolitski’s uncle, Les Miskolzie, released the following statement, via email, to Global News on Saturday morning.

“Our precious Megan was taken from us. We are devastated by this loss. She was a beautiful, smart, and caring girl. She had a passion for dancing especially ballet and jazz. She was a great swimmer. She had so many hopes and dreams. She was a Girl Guide who was planning a trip to Switzerland with her group. She aspired to be a teacher like her mom. We would like Megan to be remembered for the incredible girl that she was. She loved her family and loved to take care of her sister and baby cousins. She touched so many lives with her kindness. On behalf of her family, we thank you for your thoughts and prayers.”

“We ask that you pray for her classmates who are still recovering from their serious injuries.”

The family is asking for privacy at this time, while they try to cope with the loss of their loved one.

Two other girls were injured in the crash. One of the girls remains in critical condition, while the other has been upgraded to stable condition.

A vigil was held a Racette School Friday evening, to honour and remember Wolitski, and the two other girls who remain in hospital.

46-year-old Richard Edward Benson of St. Paul is facing numerous charges in relation to the crash, including 3 counts of dangerous driving causing bodily harm, resisting arrest and possession of a controlled substance.

There is a chance those charges could be upgraded now that Wolitski has died.
