HALIFAX – Nova Scotia’s regulator has approved an application from P.E.I.-based Tri-Maritime Bus Network Inc. to replace Acadian Coach Lines.
The Nova Scotia Utility and Review Board also approved Acadian’s plan to abandon its intercity bus routes in the Maritimes effective Dec. 1.

The board says under the approved application Maritime Bus will maintain runs between Sydney and Halifax, as well as between Halifax and Amherst and service into the other Maritime provinces.
Maritime Bus is to take over the service on Dec.1 with its existing fleet of 42 buses.
The board says the company plans to add up to 20 additional buses by May.
The board says Maritime Bus will operate under the same rates approved for Acadian Lines in June 2010, although the company will be allowed to add a fuel surcharge and provide certain discounts for groups such as students and seniors.
