WINNIPEG — The city’s Executive Policy Committee is set to vote on a revamped growth fees plan.
Mayor Brian Bowman and Councillor John Orlikow, chair of Planning, Property and Development Committee have maintained that “growth does not pay for growth” and believe there should be a fee applied to new developments to help pay for new infrastructure.
Other councillors, including Trancona’s Russ Wyatt and St. James’ Scott Gillingham said they do not support the plan. They said the process has been rushed and has not taken into account stakeholders and the development industry.

An implementation fee could be put in place as soon as May 1, 2017; amended from the original plan to implement them on Jan.1, 2017.
Orlikow has spent the past several weeks meeting with members of the development industry to revamp the proposal.
