P.A. mayor dethroned in 2012 civic election

A former city councillor dethrones the incumbent mayor as the unofficial results are released from the 2012 Prince Albert civic election.  

Former Ward 2 councillor Greg Dionne defeated incumbent Jim Scarrow with 4205 unofficial votes. Scarrow received 3129 votes.

Dionne has nine previous years experience on the Prince Albert city council.

Jim Scarrow served two terms as mayor of Prince Albert. In 2009, he won the civic election having gained 51 per cent of the vote against two other candidates.

Realtor Dean Link also ran for P.A. mayor, coming in third with 832 votes.

In Ward 1, incumbent Charlene Miller was re-elected to council with 443 votes. She defeated Jim Sr. Tsannie who ran against her in the 2009 civic election.

Five candidates campaigned to replace Dionne as Ward 2 city councillor. Rick Orr won the position by defeating Peggi-Lynn Gatin, Chad Mogg, Joel Thiessen and Colleen Whitedeer.

Incumbent Lee Atkinson reclaimed his position as Ward 3 councillor tonight with 561 votes. First elected in 2000, he is the longest serving council member in Prince Albert.

Ward 4 has a new face as Don Cody received 614, defeating candidate Darwin Zurakowski.

Ward 5 incumbent Cheryl Ring lost her position to Tim Scharkowski in a close race.

Incumbents Martin Ring and Ted Zurakowski were re-elected, while Mark D. Tweidt was acclaimed to Ward 7.
