17-year-old dead after vehicle rollover near Steinbach

A Manitoba teenager is dead after a single-vehicle crash near Steinbach, Man., over the weekend.

Around 4:30 a.m. Sunday, RCMP responded to a report of a collision on Highway 207, just east of Provincial Road 31.

The car had rolled and landed in the ditch on the north side of Highway 207. The passenger of the car a 17-year-old teenager boy from Lorette, was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead on scene.

Another 17-year-old teen driver, also from Lorette, was taken to local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The driver was wearing a seat belt, but the passenger was not, RCMP said. RCMP said it’s believed alcohol is a factor in the collision.

RCMP are continuing with the investigation.
