On Sunday night, about 200 people walked out of Amy Schumer’s show at the Amalie Arena in Tampa, Florida, after she called Donald Trump an “orange, sexual-assaulting, fake-college-starting monster.”
The comedienne touched on political matters during the show by bringing a Trump supporter onstage, asking him why the GOP candidate is the better choice over his opponent in the presidential election, Hillary Clinton.

A “vocal but small minority” of the crowd started booing halfway through her show, the Tampa Bay Times reports, when Schumer started on more political jokes about gun control and the election.
When some audience members booed, she invited them to leave and also asked security to remove anyone booing.

Two people told the Tampa Bay Times that they felt the show became too political.
“The show became political. I definitely didn’t come to hear this,” Ryan Atwood told the publication.
“I don’t want to hear that. We wanted to have a good night without distractions with the politics,” said Bryon Nfinger.
Some echoed that sentiment on Twitter.

The Inside Amy Schumer star got interactive with the audience later on in her show, asking female survivors of sexual assault in the crowd to stand, alluding to the allegations of sexual impropriety against Trump. Dozens stood, the Tampa Bay Times says. Schumer is a victim of sexual assault herself, as revealed in her recently published book, The Girl With the Lower Back Tattoo.
Some praised the actress for such bold moves onstage during this tumultuous political time.

Schumer released a statement to Vanity Fair saying, “I loved the crowd and my show in Tampa last night! I want to thank the 8400 people who stayed. We had a great time! We have always depended on comedians to make us laugh and tell the truth. I am proud to continue that tradition.”

Schumer has not kept quiet about her political positions. She has pushed for stricter gun-control laws since 2015, with the help of her cousin, Senator Chuck Schumer. She started that initiative when two women were killed when a man opened fire at a screening of her film Trainwreck in Layfayette, Louisiana.
In March, she announced that she supports Clinton, and earlier on Sunday, Schumer was registering voters in Florida while wearing a “feminist for Hillary” button.
Schumer’s tour continues in New York on Oct. 18 at Madison Square Garden, with multiple Canadian tour dates coming up over the next few months.
