Three-year-old survives fall from window in Surrey

A three-year-old boy's fall from a third-floor Surrey apartment window was broken by a second-story balcony, preventing serious injuries. Shane MacKichan

A three-year-old boy is in hospital but “doing OK” after a fall from a third-floor window in Surrey Sunday afternoon.

The boy was reportedly playing in his bedroom at the Brooklands townhouse complex on 62A Avenue, when he pushed against the window screen. The window had been left open, so the boy fell straight through the screen.

Luckily, the boy’s fall was broken by the second-story balcony, preventing what could have been serious injuries.

The boy was rushed to Royal Columbian Hospital by paramedics, along with a police escort.

Surrey RCMP has confirmed the boy has no broken bones and that his injuries are minor.

Investigators are still working on the case and will provide more information when it’s available.
