Edmonton police released photos Wednesday of a pair of suspects wanted in a violent home invasion that injured a couple and left another man dead earlier this month.

On Oct. 4 at around 2:30 a.m., officers were called to a home on McConachie Boulevard for reports of a break and enter as well as an aggravated assault.

Police said a couple who was home at the time was tied up and blindfolded before being “severely assaulted” and asked to hand over drugs and money. Police said they received reports of shots being fired in the home shortly after the break-in.

When officers arrived at the home, they found a man in the basement who had been shot. He was rushed to hospital where he died later that morning.

A day later, police said an autopsy confirmed the man died from a gunshot and had been identified as 23-year-old Omar Terrence Albert.

Police have said Albert was one of three men suspected of being involved in the home invasion. They added they do not believe the couple shot the intruder and that their home was “wrongfully targeted.”

Police have released two photos of the suspects who remain at large.

The first suspect is described as a dark-skinned man in his early to mid-20s. They said he is about 5’10” to 6’0″ tall with a slim build. He is clean shaven, was wearing a dark hoodie, even darker jeans and dark gloves. He was also wearing round, thick-rimmed eyeglasses.

Police said the photos appear to show the suspects wearing white clothing but that is because they are infrared images and that the clothing is in fact dark-coloured.

Both suspects are described as speaking with an accent or in broken English.

Anyone with information about the suspects or the deadly home invasion is asked to call the Edmonton Police Service at 780-423-4567 or #377 from a mobile phone. Tips can also be anonymously submitted to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or online.
