RCMP said the trio had been driving a 4X4 vehicle in a remote area of Crown land near Amisk Lake when the vehicle was submerged in marshland.

All three managed to get out of the vehicle and started walking to find their way back to a populated area.

When they became disoriented, they called 911 at approximately 3:45 p.m., RCMP said.

Mounties, the Boyle Fire Department and paramedics searched for the three people and found them at around 8:45 p.m.

The group was safely evacuated from the area by the fire department and treated for exposure.

RCMP said it was about 0 C at the time and there were light flurries and freezing rain.

Officers are reminding people who like to adventure outdoors to equip themselves with enough warm clothing, food, supplies and equipment to help them in the case of an emergency.
