Pedestrian killed in Deerfoot Trail hit and run

Police are looking to the public for help locating the driver involved in a fatal hit and run on Deerfoot Trail over the weekend.

Officers were called to southbound Deerfoot Trail and 130 Avenue S.E. at around 3 a.m. on Sunday.

When they arrived, investigators found a 21-year-old man who had been hit by a vehicle. He suffered serious head injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

“Evidence at the scene indicates that the vehicle that struck the man was an SUV which continued south on Deerfoot Trail,” police said in a Sunday news release. “Investigators are still trying to determine the exact circumstances that may have led to this incident.”
