It may be a rainy start to this year’s Thanksgiving weekend but that hasn’t stopped a group of volunteers, coordinated by the Homeless Support Group, from giving out meals to the homeless.
On Saturday, many who have no shelter lined up at Parc Émilie-Gamelin in downtown Montreal for a full course Thanksgiving meal prepared by the volunteers.
Those who braved the rain were treated to traditional Thanksgiving food, including turkey, stuffing, yams and soup.

The volunteer groups who attended the event such as, ‘Calling All Angels, Helping the Needy and the Homeless’ said they do this because they believe it helps the homeless get back on their feet.
“When they have a good meal, they have a full belly, they have nice clothes, we’ve seen some of them actually get jobs and apartments and that’s been a real positive for us,” Susan Clark said, the founder of ‘Calling All Angels, Helping the Needy and the Homeless’.
The Thanksgiving meal comes together thanks to donations and the help of hundreds of volunteers who worked behind the scenes.
