BURMIS, Alta. – Six homes on a hillside in southwest Alberta have been evacuated because of a wind-whipped grass fire.
The fire started around noon in Burmis, a small community about 200 kilometres south of Calgary in the Crowsnest Pass.

Leo Reedyk (REE-dick), operations manager with the M-D of Pincher Creek, says there are firefighters from Pincher Creek, Cowley, and Lethbridge battling the blaze.
A helicopter has been dumping water for the past few hours as well.
There’s no word yet on how the fire started.
Winds are gusting to more than 100 kilometres in the area.
