Donald Trump has apologized for derogatory, lewd comments made more than 10 years ago, but released Friday.
In a video from 2005 published by the Washington Post Friday afternoon, the Republican presidential candidate was caught on camera making vulgar statements about the way he hits on women.
“I moved on her and I failed. I’ll admit it,” Trump told Access Hollywood host Billy Bush in the video about former show producer Nancy O’Dell. “I did try and f— her. She was married.”
In a video statement posted to his Facebook page just after midnight Saturday morning, Trump made a rare apology, saying he isn’t a “perfect person.”

“I’ve said and done things I regret, and the words released today on this more than a decade old video are one of them,” he said. “I said it, I was wrong and I apologize.”

The original video was recorded when Trump was getting ready to guest-star on Days of Our Lives, which was in October 2005. The Post says it was shot around Sept. 16, 2005.
Access Hollywood host Natalie Morales said on the show Friday night staff dug up video following an Associated Press report on former contestants from Trump’s show The Apprentice who came forward alleging he rated female contestants by the size of their breasts.

Bush was working on a segment about Trump’s cameo on the soap opera, and while the video only shows the outside of the bus arriving on set, you can clearly hear the conversation between the two before they step off the bus. Natalie said while the two-person camera crew had gotten off to record Trump’s arrival, the microphone was still live as the comments were made.

He was newly married to his current wife, Melania, at the time.
He goes on to say: “I moved on her like a bitch, but I couldn’t get there. And she was married. Then all of a sudden I see her, she’s now got the big phony tits and everything. She’s totally changed her look.”
When the two arrive on set, Days of Our Lives star Arianne Zucker is waiting for them.

“Your girl’s hot as s—, in the purple,” said Bush, of Zucker.
“I’ve gotta use some Tic Tacs, just in case I start kissing her,” Trump said.
“You know I’m automatically attracted to beautiful — I just start kissing them. It’s like a magnet. Just kiss. I don’t even wait.”
“And when you’re a star they let you do it,” Trump said. “You can do anything.”
“Whatever you want,” Bush replied.
“Grab them by the p—y,” Trump added.

In defence of the comments, Trump first said in a statement: “This was locker room banter, a private conversation that took place many years ago.”
“Bill Clinton has said far worse to me on the golf course – not even close. I apologize if anyone was offended.”
Later on, in the video statement, he also said the Access Hollywood video was a “distraction from from the important issues we’re facing today.”
But he goes on to further his comments on Bill Clinton.
“Bill Clinton has actually abused women, and Hillary Clinton has bullied, attacked, shamed, and intimidated his victims.”
He also promises to talk more about these issues in the coming days.
In response to the story, Democratic rival Hillary Clinton called the comments “horrific.”
Bush, who is now a co-host on the Today Show on NBC, told Page Six that he was embarrassed about the comments and offered a full apology.
“Obviously I’m embarrassed and ashamed. It’s no excuse, but this happened 11 years ago — I was younger, less mature and acted foolishly in playing along. I’m very sorry,” he said.
It’s the second time this week Trump has defended his past comments about women.
In an interview with KSNV TV in Las Vegas on Wednesday he said previous comments about the way women look were “for the purpose of entertainment.”
He then went on to explain that the comments were from his time in the TV industry when The Apprentice was airing.
“A lot of that was done for the purpose of entertainment… There’s nobody that has more respect for women than I do,” Trump replied.
