A man accused of robbing several banks in Alberta and Saskatchewan has been sentenced to eight years in prison.
Gordon Allan Slater, 41, was sentenced in an Edmonton courtroom after pleading guilty to the robberies.

Two of those robberies took place in Saskatoon on March 28. A third bank was robbed in Saskatoon on April 6.
Saskatoon police determined the same man was responsible for all three robberies.
Slater also pleaded guilty to robbing five financial institutions in Edmonton between March 4 and March 30 and one in Calgary on April 1.
He was arrested on April 8, 2016 in Lloydminster, Alta.

The Edmonton Sun reported court was told Slater was on a methadone program in B.C. after he was released from prison on a bank robbery conviction, and ended up going to Alberta after being accused of domestic violence.
