UPDATE: Driver pleads guilty to killing 3 Saskatchewan teens in work zone crash

A trial date has been set for a Winnipeg man charged with killing three Saskatchewan teens in a construction zone crash, but it won’t be until next year.

Normand Lavoie is charged with three counts of criminal negligence causing death and one count of criminal negligence causing bodily harm following the crash on May 3, 2015.

Justin Gaja, 14, Kristian Skalicky, 15, and Carter Stevenson, 17, were killed when they were struck from behind by a semi while stopped at a construction zone south of Spalding on Highway 6.

The Carrot River teens were returning home at the time from a football camp.

The force of the crash sent the car into a truck, which then collided with a flag person.

Sam Fetherson was critically injured and is still recovering.

The trial, which is expected to run two weeks, begins June 12, 2017 in Melfort.
