Man charged with murder, unlawful confinement in central Edmonton homicide

A 26-year-old man is facing a number of charges, including first-degree murder and unlawful confinement, in connection with the death of a man on Sept. 25.

Levi Denim Simpson is also facing charges of robbery, possession of an offensive weapon dangerous to the public, aggravated sexual assault, possession of an identity document and disguise with intent to commit an indictable offence.

Edmonton police said the charges are in relation to the homicide of 46-year-old Christopher Lee Giroux.

Just after midnight on Sept. 25, officers found Giroux near 107 Avenue and 110 Street with “obvious trauma to his chest.” Police said he was taken to hospital where he died.

The EPS Homicide Section continues to investigate and police said the cause of death will not be released at this time.
