Northeast Edmonton garage fire sends 2 to hospital

Sun, Oct 2 - Emergency crews responded to a garage fire in northeast Edmonton. Two people were taken to hospital with minor burns. Neighbours say they heard a loud boom before flames and plumes of smoke filled the air. Shallima Maharaj has the story – Oct 2, 2016

Edmonton Fire Rescue Services said a man and a woman were taken to the University of Alberta Hospital with minor burns after a fire broke out in the northeast Edmonton neighbourhood of Kilkenny.

Crews were called to respond to a fire in a garage early Sunday afternoon.

A Global News crew at the scene said it appeared the blaze had destroyed a garage in the area of 66 Street and 149 Avenue but that the adjacent home appeared to have been saved.

Fire officials confirmed the fire did not spread to any other buildings.

Fire crews remained at the scene as of 2 p.m.

Fire investigators are looking into what sparked the blaze.
