Fentanyl, crystal meth, guns seized by police in Saskatoon drug bust

Fentanyl, crystal meth and guns have been seized by police following a drug bust in Saskatoon.

Member of the Saskatoon integrated drug enforcement street team (SIDEST) carried out five high-risk arrests in a restaurant parking lot on Circle Drive West at around 5 p.m. CT on Thursday. Officers seized two loaded handguns, fentanyl, crystal meth and cash.

Just after midnight on Friday, a high-risk search warrant was executed at a home on Rita Crescent. Additional drugs and firearms were found inside the home and several people were taken into custody.

In total, SIDEST officials said approximately 700 fentanyl pills, 185 grams of crystal methamphetamine, five handguns and $61,000 in cash were seized. Four of the firearms were loaded.

Six men, between 18 and 28, are facing numerous drug and firearms related charges. All appeared in Saskatoon provincial court on Friday.

A hotel room in the 2000-block of Airport Drive was also searched but no evidence was found.

Seven other people who were taken into custody were not charged and have been released.
