Police arrest Calgary man wanted in string of armed robberies

Police have arrested a 27-year-old man wanted in connection with multiple commercial armed robberies in the Calgary area.

Officers said between June 12 and Aug. 24 Daniel Loveys allegedly held up six different stores, including M & M Meat Shops and a convenience store.

In each case, the Calgary man is alleged to have approached the store clerk with an item at the till, then presented a small knife, switch-blade or in once case, a machete – demanding money.

On Tuesday, police issued a plea to the public for help in locating Loveys.

He was arrested without incident in northwest Calgary Thursday afternoon.

Loveys is facing 22 charges, including multiple counts of robbery and various weapons offences.
