The ministry said the burn will help reduce the wildfire risk in the area by reducing the amount of dead and combustible material.

The ministry said the burn is expected to be visible from Big White and Highway 33 over the next three days and that lingering smoke could persist for up to two weeks.

The burn will involve nearly 12 hectares of forest.
