Man’s death in central Edmonton city’s 33rd homicide of 2016

Police confirmed Wednesday that a man’s death in central Edmonton over the weekend was a homicide.

Officers were called to the area of 107 Avenue and 110 Street just after midnight Sunday where a man was found with trauma to his chest.

The 46-year-old was taken to hospital where he later died of his injuries.

Police have identified the victim as Christopher Lee Giroux but said they will not release the cause of his death at this time.

Giroux’s death is Edmonton’s 33rd homicide of 2016.

So far officers do not have any suspects in custody. Anyone with information is asked to contact the EPS at 780-423-4567 or #377 from a mobile phone. Anonymous information can be submitted to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or online.
