20 degree heat ends September and kicks off October before we head into “uncertain” precipitation-type territory next week.

Saskatoon Forecast

Today

Saskatoon started the day near the freezing mark, but we bounced back pretty quickly.

The mercury had recovered to the mid-teens by late morning, expecting to push up to around 16 or 17 degrees later in the day.

Mostly sunny skies started off the day, but the cloud cover rolled back in giving us mostly cloudy skies by midday.

The clouds will stick around for the rest of the day with a chance of late afternoon showers.

That risk of rain continues into the early evening before clouds clear to partly cloudy overnight as temperatures dip back into mid-single digits.

This is the zone with a chance of showers late Wednesday afternoon into the evening. SkyTracker Weather

Thursday

A building upper ridge begins to press in tomorrow with some clouds to start the day before clearing to give us mostly sunny skies to end the day.

As the ridge moves back in, so does the heat, with our daytime high likely to top out into the low 20s during the afternoon!

Friday

We should get into even more sunshine on Friday as the upper ridge continues to strengthen with a bit more sunshine than cloud cover likely during the day.

The mercury will also continue climbing up with an expected high around 21 degrees.

Weekend Outlook

The next area of low pressure builds into Saskatchewan this weekend, with a push of heat out ahead of it to kickoff October!

That’ll bring Saskatoon’s temperature up even further into the low 20s for an afternoon high under what’ll likely be a mostly sunny start to the weekend.

Sunday the colder air then wraps in behind that system with a good chance of rain earlier in the day with windy conditions before clouds are likely to clear later in the day.

Temperatures will also be a bit cooler with an expected high back into the mid-teens or so.

The first full work week of October is shaping up to be an interesting one with forecast models still in a great deal of disagreement over what could occur.

Upper trough digs in next week, possibly cooling the atmosphere enough to produce snow. SkyTracker Weather

What does seem to be more certain at this point is that an upper trough will swing through, cooling temperatures off and bringing in more cloud cover.

What’s less certain is exactly how cool it’ll be and whether or not there will be any precipitation – which could be rain for the first half of the week and if conditions cool enough, could even be snow later on in the week.

We’ll keep an eye on the situation and bring you the latest information as the week approaches.
