Almost a month after a fire in Calgary’s Mount Pleasant neighbourhood, police are releasing new photos of a person of interest in the suspected arson.
The fire began around 3:15 a.m. in the 400 block of 30 Avenue northwest at a home that was still under construction. No one was home at the time, but the home was destroyed.

Police and fire investigators believe the fire was started intentionally.

Photos of a person of interest were released in early September, but new CCTV photos from a nearby convenience store have since been found. Investigators said Tuesday they believe the same person is in both sets of photos.
“The individual, believed to be a man, was wearing dark shorts, a low-hanging grey and black backpack, a dark hoodie and a red-brimmed cap that could be a Chicago Bulls hat,” police said in a statement. “They arrived at the store riding a bicycle that appears to be the same bicycle seen leaving the fire scene just minutes earlier.”
Police are hoping the public can help identify the person, as officers believe he may have information about the fire.
