Regina’s first serial killer has been sentenced to life in prison after he pleaded guilty to the second-degree murder charges of two aboriginal woman who disappeared three years ago.
With the life in prison sentence, Clayton Eichler will not be eligible for parole for 20 years.
On Monday, the Crown and defence have made a joint submission that Clayton Eichler serve 20 years of his automatic life sentence concurrently before being eligible for parole.

Victim impact statements from the families of Kelly Goforth and Richele Bear were read on Tuesday at the sentencing hearing at Court of Queen’s Bench.
“The past three years have been agony for us,” Maxine Goforth, Kelly Goforth’s mother said.
Maxine also said she lost her sense of security for her children and is heartbroken for Kelly’s young son who she now raises.
Eichler was charged with the death of Goforth — whose body was discovered in a dumpster, wrapped in garbage bags and put in a hockey bag, in a Regina back alley three years ago — and Bear, whose body has never been found.
Bear’s mother said, “only when Richele is brought home to rest can I move forward.”
