WINNIPEG — Light rain started falling in Winnipeg about 1 a.m. Friday and it’s been steady since with either light showers or drizzle.
The city is under a low pressure system that is slowly making its way into Ontario.
We are not likely to see much in the way of sunshine in the city at all Friday, while areas in the southwest will see some clearing later Friday afternoon.
Winnipeg is still expecting 10-15 millimetres of rain to come before we get to Saturday morning.
The weekend will start on a much brighter note, though, as our temperature reaches above seasonal values.
At this point, Sunday is questionable with another round of showers possible but still above normal temperatures.
Areas that received some significant rain were closer to the U.S. border.
Here were some rainfall numbers as of 8 a.m. Friday morning (courtesy CoCoRAHS):
- Boissevain 59.7 mm
- Gardenton 10.2 mm
- Wawanesa 5.8 mm
- Winnipeg 5.6 mm (SW)
- Manitou 5.1 mm
- Clandeboye 3.3 mm
- Brandon 3.3 mm
