It feels like the world has been waiting to see what’s going on with Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump‘s hair. Is it real? Is it a toupee? Or is it some strange hybrid?
On Thursday night’s episode of The Tonight Show, host Jimmy Fallon seized the chance to discover the truth.

“Donald, I want to ask you because the next time I see you, you could be the president of the United States,” Fallon asked cautiously. “I just wanted to know if there’s something we could do that’s not presidential, really, or something that we can do now that we’re both civilians.”
Trump immediately looked doubtful. “Like what? I’m not liking the sound of this,” he said with a smirk.
“Can I mess your hair up?” Fallon asked gleefully. The audience burst into laughter at the suggestion, and surprisingly Trump was all for it.

“The answer’s yes, but the people in New Hampshire where I’m going to be in about an hour from now — I hope they’re going to understand.”
With that, Fallon does the full sweep of Trump’s head, from back to front, and he doesn’t hold back. It’s still tough to figure out exactly what’s going on up there. (You can check it out for yourself in the video, above.)
Before the hair mussing, Fallon questioned Trump about his medical records and his appearance on The Dr. Oz Show, where he presented Dr. Oz with a one-page report that outlined his overall health. Fallon also lightly grilled Trump about his thoughts on polls, the media and his various comments.
“You say some shocking things,” Fallon told him.
“But I’m trying not to anymore,” Trump replied.

When Trump made a visit to Vancouver a few years ago, Global BC reporter Jill Bennett grabbed his hair to see if it was real:
Over on The Daily Show, former president (and husband of Trump’s opponent, Hillary Clinton) Bill Clinton spoke to host Trevor Noah about her health.
“She looked great when she left this morning and I turned on the TV and saw her in North Carolina,” Clinton told Noah. “She just called and said she got home and she still feels good. Big deal. She had pneumonia. People get it all the time.”
When asked about the footage of Clinton stumbling as she left a 9/11 memorial service, he said, “You’re always concerned, but I was pretty sure I knew what it was because she had been working hard. She was dehydrated. She had been standing up a long time there. I didn’t worry too much about it.”
Democratic presidential candidate Clinton will appear on The Tonight Show Monday.
