Ward 7 Councillor Druh Farrell has asked city council to advocate for lower dental fees in the province.
Farrell formerly asked Mayor Naheed Nenshi Wednesday to send a letter to Alberta Health Services to request changes to Alberta dental fees.

According to Farrell, Alberta is the only province to not have a suggested fee schedule which means dentists can charge whatever they want.
Alberta dentists have not followed a dental fee schedule since 1997.
In a letter to the Health Minister from Feb. 2016, the Official Opposition said Albertans pay more for dental fees than any other Canadians, “Statistics Canada indicates in their most recent National Household Survey data that Albertan families are spending the most out-of-pocket on dentistry costs in the entire country.”
