Campfire ban lifted in the Central Okanagan

With the arrival of cooler temperatures, the Regional District of Central Okanagan says the ban on campfires has been lifted.

The ban was imposed on August 19th.

The regional district says with the forecast calling for showers and cooler temperatures, the potential fire threat has been reduced and the ban on campfires will be lifted as of noon today.

The ban included Ellison, Joe Rich, North Westside, Wilsons Landing, the city of West Kelowna, District of Lake Country and District of Peachland.

Campfires are not allowed within the City of Kelowna.

Open burning was banned within the regional district and neighbouring municipalities on April 30.
