A driveway and front lawn in Richmond is buried under one man’s belongings after he was kicked out of his house last week and refuses to take back his stuff.
Dana Walsh was the tenant at a home on Seacote Road until last Friday when he was evicted and his belongings were removed from the house. They have sat on the driveway, carport, and front yard for the last seven days.
While Walsh quickly found another place to live, he left boxes full of things on the property and told another couple, Lance Bowden and Veronica Kelly to squat on the property and guard his possessions.
They are now sleeping in the carport.
Frustrated neighbours are now wondering why the homeowners didn’t take action sooner.
But on Thursday, the property owners did arrive and called the police on Global News reporter John Hua who was filming outside the house.
They said the courts were dealing with the problem, but RCMP on site decided to take action against the two squatters, saying they would be charged with trespassing if they stayed on the property.
They also gave Walsh until 1:30 p.m. Thursday to clean up his belongings, which he failed to do. Now the landlords must deal with the mess, which could cost up to $4,000.
