A new speed limit is coming to Saskatoon’s Montgomery Place neighbourhood.

Starting Sept. 1, the speed limit on streets in the southwest neighbourhood will be reduced to 40 km/h.

The hope is to increase safety for both pedestrians and traffic.

Officials said roads in Montgomery Place require drainage ditches, leaving no space for sidewalks, and forcing people to walk on streets.

The change is part of the Montgomery Place neighbourhood traffic review, which looks to address traffic concerns such as speeding, shortcutting and pedestrian safety.
