Alison Carey, the sister of pop star Mariah Carey, has been arrested on prostitution charges in upstate New York.
Police tell The Daily Freeman of Kingston that the 55-year-old was arrested in Saugerties on Friday following an investigation at a hotel.
Police say she solicited money in exchange for sex with an undercover police officer.

Police describe Alison as a transient, and say she advertised her services online through Craiglist’s adult section, even using some of her sister’s lyrics from 1995 hit Fantasy as part of her description.

Saugerties Police Chief Joseph Sinagra tells the newspaper that she identified herself as the performer’s sister when she was arrested, although the two siblings haven’t been in contact for quite a while now.
Mariah has not commented on the situation, but just one day after her estranged sister was arrested, the diva posted a photo to Instagram wearing a glittery leotard and fishnet tights.

The estranged sister of the superstar is HIV-positive, and previously made headlines when Mariah would not help to pay her medical bills.
Alison filmed a short video for the Daily Mail, in which she begged Mariah for help.
“Mariah I love you, and I desperately need your help, please don’t abandon me like this,” she said.
It wasn’t immediately clear if she had a lawyer who could comment on the charges. Carey is due in Saugerties Town Court on August 30.
Police are urging anyone who had sexual contact with Carey to see a doctor as soon as possible.
