UPDATE: Calgary police say death of woman in Cranston not criminal
A number of Cranston residents told Global News they were surprised to see police on their quiet street first thing Saturday morning.
Police have confirmed a neighbour called 9-1-1 around 7:15 a.m. after seeing what appeared to be a body near a driveway in Cranston.
The Calgary Police Service (CPS) said a woman was found on the ground near a truck at 106 Cranford Green S.E.
EMS confirmed they did find a woman who was declared dead on scene.
Police tape surrounded a tarp covering what appeared to be a body on the driveway, and have confirmed the death is considered suspicious. Officers were still on scene as of 3:00 p.m. Saturday afternoon.
Global News has learned police canvassed the street asking if anyone noticed anything or had any information. One neighbour also reported seeing police fingerprint the truck near where the body was found.
A small black SUV was towed from the scene Saturday afternoon.
