Two key intersections in Saskatoon are going to be upgraded.
Warman Road and 51st Street, and 22nd Street and Diefenbaker Drive are getting a number of upgrades, including left hand turn lanes, and better pedestrian crossings.
City officials said the improvements are needed to help lessen traffic congestion and increase accessibility.

Angela Gardiner, the city’s transportation director, said work at Warman and 51st is needed due to the north bridge project.
“The intersection of Warman Road and 51st Street will be part of the North Commuter Parkway route scheduled to open in 2018,” Gardiner said.
“We know traffic patterns at this intersection are going to change when the bridge opens. So, work is being done in advance to ensure this area is ready to safely handle these changes.”

City officials said changes at 22nd and Diefenbaker are needed, as traffic through there is expected to double in the coming years due to city growth.
22nd Street has also been identified as a likely future rapid bus corridor, necessitating the changes.
Crews will start work at 22nd and Diefenbaker on Aug. 29, and improvements to Warman and 51st will begin on Sept. 6.
Work on both projects is expected to wrap up in the second week of November.
