Winnipeg’s Emma Gray opens World Rowing Junior Championships

Winnipeg’s Emma Gray finished in third place in her first race of the World Rowing Junior Championships in the Netherlands.

Gray, 18, along with rowing partner Ivy Elling Quaintance of British Columbia, failed to qualify for the semifinals with the third place finish in the Junior Women’s Double Sculls heat. But the pair will get another chance to advance in Friday’s repechage.

With a time of 7:15.83 the duo finished seven seconds back of the United States who won the heat. France took second place.
