It’s a trip not many father-daughter duos would take, but Bruce and Holly Johnson are riding a motorcycle across Canada to raise funds and awareness for Canadian children’s hospitals.
“It’s a lot of father-daughter bonding time. It’s been a lot of fun. I’ve loved pretty much every moment of it,” said Holly Johnson on their stop in Saskatoon on Sunday.

But this isn’t their first fundraising journey. In 2013, the two made a trip from Wasaga Beach, Ont., where they live, to Costa Rica and raised $107,000 for the Children’s Miracle Network.
“A lot of families don’t realize what you have until you need it … We had a child that was gravely ill and after Elisa passed away it turned a light on,” Bruce explained.
In Elisa’s memory and for many others they’ve met, Bruce and Holly are crossing the country in a month, meeting Miracle Network Children kids along the way.
“Before we left, we’d raised $25,000 so now we’re about $55,000 to $60,000,” said Bruce.

After starting their adventure in Newfoundland, the two plan to arrive in Vancouver on Aug. 31.
