Winnipeg police find woman driving on sidewalk of Forks Market Road

WINNIPEG — Winnipeg police say they found a woman driving on the sidewalk at Forks Market Road Saturday afternoon.

Officers said it happened around 3:40 p.m. They said it appeared the woman was attempting to hit pedestrians who were walking nearby.

Officers said the driver saw a security guard in the area, verbally threatened to harm him, and then drove off.

Winnipeg Police Service said it observed the van she was in leaving the Forks area, where they stopped the lone female driver.

Police say two officers were assaulted after a suspect was taken in to custody.

Officers arrested a 26-year-old from God’s Lake Narrows and charged her with:

  • Driving while ability impaired
  • Fair or refuse to provide sample – breath
  • Uttering threats – cause death or bodily harm
  • Dangerous operation of motor vehicle
  • Two counts of assault peace officer
  • Two counts of driving while disqualified
