All the rain we’ve had this summer has held up construction of new schools that were scheduled to open this fall.
Two Calgary Board of Education (CBE) public schools and two in the Calgary Catholic School District won’t be opening on time.
Of the eight new CBE schools, Buffalo Rubbing Stone School in Panorama Hills will open its doors to students on September 26, while Peter Lougheed School in Saddleridge will be delayed by two days.
“We are working closely with the families of these schools to provide updates on construction and contingency plans for students,” said Dany Breton, Superintendent of Facilities for the CBE, said in a news release Thursday.
Modernization of two schools, Jack James High and Bowness High, will be completed on time.
It’s not certain yet if wet weather will delay the planned opening of 10 new schools in January.
In the Calgary Catholic School District, Our Lady of Grace in Evanston will open five days later than scheduled, and Prince of Peace School will also be late, but a new date hasn’t been determined yet.
