WINNIPEG — Lightning lit up the sky across Winnipeg Wednesday evening as a summer thunderstorm made its way across the city.
The storm also brought high winds causing some damage, especially to one resident’s vehicle in the River East area.
A tree was uprooted and fell onto a vehicle on the 200 block of McIvor Avenue.

Environment Canada issued a severe thunderstorm warning for Winnipeg Wednesday night as well as several other areas in southern Manitoba.
Manitoba Hydro customers also felt the effect of the storm. Hydro officials said at the height of the storm around 5,000 customers were without power in area such as Reston, Melita, Broomhill, Pierson and Deloraine., Man.
The power has since been restored.
