About 30 large bags of dog food have been given to New Hope Dog Rescue after the non-profit turned to the public for help last week.
The donations started coming in after a Global News story was shared on the group’s Facebook page Friday.

“The overall response has been great,” said New Hope volunteer Nicole Ratzlaff.
The organization had 85 dogs as of Wednesday and it would cost approximately $4,000 per month to feed them all. Foster dog owners don’t pay for food while the animals are being fostered.
Food donations have come primarily from the Saskatoon area, though one animal group in Edmonton responded to New Hope’s public request for food.
Wilson’s Greenhouse, Bone & Biscuit, Pet Planet, Pet Valu and PetSmart are all working in partnership with the non-profit. Some businesses will have donation bins set-up in-store for food and other items.
“It’s an ongoing need. We do have an enormous cost to keep all of the dogs in our care,” Ratzlaff said.
New Hope Dog Rescue will also hold a food drive at its adoption event Saturday at the Preston Avenue PetSmart from noon until 3 p.m. CT.
