Couple arrested for zip-tying girl to bed; child tells police her name is ‘Idiot’

An Arkansas couple has been arrested after a young girl was allegedly zip-tied to her bed and made to believe her name was “Idiot.”

On Aug. 12, police in Hot Springs, Ark., received a call from the Department of Human Services about a four-year-old girl. When officials arrived at her home, they found the girl suffering from serious injuries.

“Deep purple bruising on her buttocks, lower back and legs, a blackened eye, a swollen right check, a bruise on her forehead, healing scars across her back, and dried blood in the corner of her mouth,” read the a police affidavit obtained by NBC affiliate, KARK News.

It’s alleged the girl was physically and emotionally abused.

“When asked her name … [the girl] responded ‘Idiot’,” continued the affidavit.

According to KARK, another child who lived in the house told police the couple referred to the girl as “Idiot” instead of using her actual name.

Jennifer Denen, 30, and her boyfriend Clarence Reed, 47 have been arrested and remain in jail on a $500,000 bond.

The pair are facing multiple charges, including endangering the welfare of a minor.
