New clubhouse in the works for the Saskatoon Hilltops

It’s a top notch junior football program with a lackluster clubhouse.

In fact, the Saskatoon Hilltops‘ locker room is the same cramped space players used three decades ago.

Even that seems new considering the current clubhouse is more than 60 years old.

Officials hope to change that.

On Tuesday, a capital campaign kicked off to build a new clubhouse, a 10-thousand square foot space that is projected to cost $3.2 million.

So far the club has raised $800,000 and will rely on alumni and other supporters for the rest.

“Our job is not only to win football games but to build young men and future leaders for our city and for our province and we need a better facility to do that,” said Jeff Yausie, the Hilltops defensive coordinator.

The team hopes to have the clubhouse completed by August of next year.
