A big second quarter was the difference as the Saskatoon Hilltops downed the Winnipeg Rifles 40-13 in the 2016 Prairie Football Conference (PFC) season opener for both teams.
Hilltops quarterback Jared Andreychuk threw three touchdown passes, including a 67 yard toss to Ryan Turple to open the scoring 45 seconds into the second quarter.

Just over four minutes later, lineman Dillion Buckle got in on the scoring, catching a four-yard pass from Andreychuk.
Adam Benkie returned a fumble for a touchdown and Andreychuk connected with Sam Mike for a 13-yard TD pass.
James Vause converted all four touchdowns and added three field goals. Ryan Kleiter rounded out the scoring for the Hilltops with a 26-yard field goal.

The Hilltops head to Edmonton for their next game when they take on the Huskies on Sunday afternoon.
The Rifles home opener goes Saturday when the Edmonton Wildcats travel to Winnipeg. Game time is 7 p.m.
